Drew Stensland is a lifelong Cedar Falls resident raised in a union household by a firefighter and an AEA professional who taught him the value of service, accountability, and showing up for your community.
From an early age, Drew stepped up to lead, serving as Student Body President at Cedar Falls High School and as the first student representative on the Cedar Falls School Board.
At the University of Northern Iowa, Drew was elected Student Body President, where he expanded civic engagement, helped create a UNI student seat on the Cedar Falls City Council, and played a key role in implementing the #PanthersVote effort, one of the highest student turnout initiatives in the country.
For the last six years, Drew has worked in Iowa State Auditor Rob Sand’s office, where he leads the Public Innovations and Efficiencies (PIE) program, helping to save Iowa communities millions of dollars by making local government work better. Drew continues to serve Cedar Falls and Black Hawk County as a local Democratic leader and community advocate.
Now Drew is ready to step up and heed the call as our next representative for Iowa House District 75

We can protect working families from rising costs by prioritizing people over special interests and lowering everyday costs by investing in public education, workforce development, and efficient government.
We Need Strong Public Schools
That means fully funding Iowa's public schools and repealing the private school voucher program. We need to keep public dollars in public schools with strong accountability and fairness, beginning with a repeal of SF478, the law that removed the State Auditor's ability to gain oversight of programs like these vouchers.
We Need a Strong UNI
We need to protect UNI as the Cedar Valley's economic and educational powerhouse. Drew will work with students, faculty, and staff to introduce innovative ways to keep Iowa's Regent universities strong and make them more affordable.
We Need Clean Water
It's time to bring together all the stakeholders and make Iowa's water quality crisis a top priority. We need to balance strong standards with common-sense solutions that protect public health.
We Need to Take Care of Our Seniors
As a state we can do more to protect our seniors. We need to put quality of care first and couple that with real oversight. With the right programs and resources we can help seniors age safely at home and keep more of what they've earned.
